TCCC7 Session Ideas Are Now Being Accepted

If you can believe it, TCCC7 is only 4 months away! Session ideas are now being accepted for the event, which is Oct. 24th. Here are the only rules (there's just 2 of them):

1) We'll take as many ideas as I get until the August 15th. After that, we'll select the sessions (hopefully we’ll have enough!). We'll try to give out-of-towners enough notice if their session is in.
2) You must give us a title, abstract and bio. No exceptions.

Also, there will be an “Introduction To…” track set aside. This will consist of 5 talks designed to give the attendee basic, foundational insight into a particular topic. This can be on a programming language, a framework…we're open to your suggestions. If you do want to submit a talk for this track, please title your session starting with “Introduction To”.

The Twin Cities Code Camp has been steadily growing in size since its inception in the Fall of 2006. TCCC6 took place at the University of Minnesota and that doubled the attendee count from the mid-100s to 270. Furthermore, the response from TCCC6 attendees was extremely positive. We're hoping that TCCC7 can do even more. If you have any questions, please let us know. Also, please spread the word to other individuals that you think may be interested in speaking at this event. Everyone is welcome, so long as they want to talk about code!

It's official - the next event will be on Oct. 24th, 2009 at the University of Minnesota (same location as TCCC6). More details will be posted in the near future.

Is TCCC a Microsoft-Only Event?

I've heard this question in various forms a lot lately so I thought I'd address it here.

The answer is a resounding "NO!" :). While most of the content in past TCCCs have been Microsoft-related, there have also been talks that center around non-Microsoft technologies (i.e. Groovy, iPhone, Ruby, etc.). Frankly, we'd like to see a more heterogenous environment with respect to the session topics. If you want to speak at a TCCC and you want to talk about code in some way, shape or form, be it VB or Ruby or OCaml or T-SQL, submit the idea when the call for speakers goes out. As long as you have passion about your topic we'll definitely consider it!
